Mountain Adventure

«

This page describes the Mountain Adventure program, first introduced at Camp Hi-Sierra in 2006.

We are pleased to announce an exciting combination of traditional Scouting activities and uniquely Hi-Sierra fun that we call "MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE."

Mountain Adventure, a new program created for the 2006 Season, will see an expanded presence in the 2007 Season.

Mountain Adventure is designed for Scouts who have attended Camp a few times before and perhaps are looking for something a bit more challenging and fun than the merit badge program, but aren't quite ready for the full-bore excitement and physical challenge of Base Camp. It is designed to be a complete program of its own for Scouts who wish to completely dedicate their week to it, but also modular to support Scouts who may need to set aside some time to complete that one outstanding merit badge or advancement work in the Tribe of Hi-Sierra.

Mountain Adventure combines advanced versions of traditional Scouting skills with unique games and challenges for a maximum of zany Hi-Sierra fun.

Did you enjoy the knots you learned, or the fine shooting aim you practiced for a merit badge, but left wanting more? Mountain Adventures starts from where many merit badges leave off - putting the skills Scouts have learned in their advancement to use in thrilling ways. Teamwork will be strongly emphasized as Scouts learn to combine their strengths to excel as a group. Adults are of course welcome to participate, and many will find their favorite Camp activities bundled into one program with Mountain Adventure. In all activities, the Mountain Adventure program emphasizes the practical, fun use of Scouting skills. Put away the books and get ready to move - this is hands-on Scouting excitement at its best.

Changes are of course to be expected, but the expected schedule for the Mountain Adventure program is printed below to assist with troop planning. Mountain Adventure will operate on a block schedule to allow for easy scheduling and a maximum of flexibility for Scouts. Morning program will consist of two 90-minute blocks and the afternoon will consist of two two-hour blocks, augmented by occasional evening programs and overnight trips.
