When you're away from home for a week at Camp, friends and family are bound to miss you! Be sure to let them know how to reach you before you leave! (This page is easy to just print out if you like - hit the "Print version" link below to make it easy.)
Mailing Addresses
Campers at Camp Hi-Sierra may be reached by mail at the following address:
Camp Hi-Sierra
29211 Hwy 108
Long Barn, CA 95335
Envelopes and small packages (i.e. less than 3"x6"x12") can be delivered to this address (it goes into a roadside mailbox, not too large), where mail is generally checked daily. Larger packages may be sent to a Post Office box address listed in the Leader's Guide [0], though they should be sent especially early, as that box is not checked as frequently (it's a 10mi drive away).
Please be sure to accurately mark the individual's Troop number and campsite in which they're staying, since that's how mail is delivered in Camp. Sometimes a Troop will change campsites from what they planned to what is available when they arrive in Camp - in this case, having the Troop number on the address ensures that we can still find the right people.
Please note that mail takes an extra few days to reach Camp Hi-Sierra's rural location. If you'd like to make sure that mail gets to your Campers before they leave Camp, it may be a good idea to send it before they depart home to go to Camp. If it arrives early, Camp Hi-Sierra staff will be happy to hold it until the Campers arrive. Mail arriving late (after Campers leave), however, cannot be easily forwarded to the Camper.
Emergency Phone Contact
In an unexpected emergency requiring more immediate attention, friends and family of Campers may call the Camp office to leave a message for the Camper, who will be notified when their Troop next checks their mail (most Troops do this 1-3 times per day) and will then be able to call back using the Camp pay phone.
The Camp office number is 209-965-3432. (if you visit Google Maps [1] you may use their "call" link to call Camp without long-distance charges - neat!)
Please be aware that Campers may NOT use the Camp office number to conduct ordinary business (we expect that Adult leaders find their own time to conduct any necessary business using the pay phone) or to take run-of-the-mill messages from family. The Camp Staff greatly appreciates your understanding.
