As you may have noticed, the webmasters involved in creating and maintaining this site have since ceased their involvement in Camp Hi-Sierra, for a variety of reasons. Several other laudable (though technologically inferior) Camp-related websites have since appeared, but we feel that this site still has a lot to offer in terms of quality design and solid back-end programming. We also note that the Santa Clara Council has yet to develop a quality website promoting Camp Hi-Sierra (one of our original goals). This site took quite a bit of work to create, and we'd love to see it be used to a greater portion of its potential.

Anyone who has been involved with Camp Hi-Sierra for more than a few years understands the role of volunteers in making Camp great. We will never be able to rely fully upon the Council or upon seasonal Camp staff to create what we need in the off-season, and this website is no different.

What could you do? You could post regular updates about Camp. You could invite Camp alumni to share their histories of Camp personalities, programs, and facilities. You could maintain active links to the Camp Leader's Guide and other documentation, or create a wikified online version (an intended task you may notice we never completed). You could provide a space for campers, Scoutmasters, and staff to post Camp-related pictures (yes, we really do have that much disk space available...just ask). Truly, the possibilities are endless. This site is run on drupal, one of the most active and well-developed open-source content management systems on the web, and it is hosted by the extraordinarily versatile and reliable Dreamhost, with large amounts of bandwidth and disk space to share.

At this point, those of us formerly involved in developing the site are open to any number of proposals or possibilities. What we cannot do is devote significant amounts of our personal time to this site. We would, however, love to support you in taking this on as your project, and can provide some minimal amount of tutoring, e-mail support, etc. to get you rolling and keep you going.
