Do you have what it takes to be a Camp Hi-Sierra Commissioner this year?

Every year, Camp Hi-Sierra needs volunteer adults to serve as Camp Commissioners during every week of the summer season.

Commissioner Duties

Commissioners help out at Camp in many ways:

• Campsite inspections - Commissioners conduct daily inspections of each Campsite each morning with the Senior Patrol Leader of each Troop, ensuring that Scouts remain clean and courteous in their stay at Camp.
• Program - Commissioners help out at a variety of times with the Hi-Sierra program, serving as members of the staff for that week.
• Tribe of Hi-Sierra - Commissioners facilitate advancement in the Tribe of Hi-Sierra by collecting advancement records from Troops and distributing Bead Awards.
• Welcoming Committee - Commissioners are one of the first faces visitors to Camp see, and they work hard to be sure that Camp is ready for each Unit!
• Commissioner Challenge and Skills of the Day - Commissioners are famous for their wacky and challenging Skills of the Day and unique "Commissioner Challenges!"
• Merit Badges and Boards of Review - Commissioners can serve as members of Boards of Review for rank advancement in Camp, and can even help to arrange in-Camp Courts of Honor or award ceremonies for Scouts who earn Merit Badges in Camp!
• Provisional Troops - Commissioners provide valuable leadership and supervision to Provisional Troops for Scouts who come apart from the rest of their Unit.

In only one week of your time, you'll get to meet other Troops, make new friends, and come away with a new appreciation for the Scouting program!

Application Process

To apply as a volunteer Commissioner, you need to fill out a Camp Hi-Sierra Commissioner application [1], which is the same application that Camp Staff and Counselor-in-Training applicants use, available on the Council web site [2].
