Venture Crew 55 consists of Camp Hi-Sierra staff, alumni, and any scouter interested in Camp. Membership is open, but the theme of this Venturing Crew is Camp Hi-Sierra, and that's what we aim to do and talk about.

Activities

  • Camp staffing - perhaps the most obvious, but many of us work at Camp Hi-Sierra each summer, for the most fun of our lives! You should sign up to join us on staff!
  • Camp preparation - a few times each year we have activities related to preparing for the upcoming season of Camp. Some examples:
    • Pre-camp staff planning meetings & trainings
    • Attending Council committee meetings relating to Camp (i.e. the Outdoor Program committee, the Camp Promotions committee, the Properties committee)
    • Sending mailings out to staffers, like staff patches!
  • Social events - whether it's bowling, ultimate frisbee, backyard campfires, holiday parties, local backpacking trips, or dining on falafels, Crew 55 has done quite a few activities over the years - help us plan our next off-season gathering!

How to join

Crew 55 is open to membership by any eligible youth in the Council - that means you live within Santa Clara County Council's area (pretty much all of SCC County, except Mountain View and Palo Alto) and are between 14 and 21 years of age. If you are over age 21 and live in our area, you are eligible to be an adult member of Crew 55. Just drop by the Council office for a registration form!

Additionally, if you work on Camp Staff and don't otherwise have a Scouting unit, you'll be registered in Crew 55. You can visit our sign up page or send our Camp Director an email to learn more about applying to work on Staff.
