One month in...

«

Hello world! We've been up and running for about a month now. Thins are looking good. At last count, camphisierra.org has just over 25 members and growing, nearly daily. Thanks to all of you who have joined and poked around the site. Remember, we encourage you to send any problems/comments to webmaster@camphisierra.org – that's often the only way we'll find out if anything is broken.

One of the greatest features of this (in our not-so-humble-opinions) is that anyone can add content. That means that you can add your own pictures, troop history, favorite staff member bios, anything you want really. If you're not sure where to start, we suggest that you add a bit of information about your favorite campsite, its easy and we're sure that you have opinions!

Help add to our site

«

(Unresolved: there are several other help pages that should be integrated in with this; they don't necessarily need to be combined, just connected logically.)

This page is a part of the Help Wiki.

This website doesn't make itself! We need you - yes, YOU - to help us add to the site! Thankfully, it's pretty easy!

What would I add?

  • History wiki pages - whether it's biographies of your favorite staff alumni friends, retelling an old story, or remembering that old building how it used to be back in the day, it's easy and fun to add to the History wiki.
  • Leader's wiki ideas - perhaps you've been an adult leader for years - share your wisdom with other leaders by posting your tips in our Leader's wiki! From how to pack for Camp to how to get your Scouts to fulfill all of their Merit Badge requirements, this is the place!

How do I add it?

E-mail Lists

«

CampHiSierra.org proudly hosts several e-mail lists relating to Camp Hi-Sierra. Note that these e-mail lists are only hosted by this website; they are maintained by their own administrators, which are different from list to list.

If you would like to join these lists, click the links below and apply for a membership - most lists will require that your membership be approved by a moderator/administrator, which typically takes a few days.

If you are already a member of one of these lists, clicking the link below will allow you to log in to manage your subscription(s).

  • Crew 55 list - for all registered Venturers, Advisors, and Crew Committee Members of Venture Crew 55.
  • Camp Alumni list - for all alumni of Camp Hi-Sierra, including former staff and campers!

Sandbox

«

Welcome to the Sandbox!

This page is a part of the Wiki Help section.

The purpose of a sandbox is to allow a safe zone for testing your new wiki skills. Nothing important should go here, because anyone should feel welcome to play, add things, delete things, and the rest. After you've finished toying around in here, you should be ready to put your content in ordinary pages!

Please do not delete the text above this line. Below this line, do whatever you like! ---

=Test Heading 1=

Text. Bold Text. Italic Text.

Test Heading 2

_Does this underline?_ _Nope!_

Test Heading 3

A wiki link

Test Heading 4

another sort of link

Test Heading 5

I thought this would make a cool break-out box!

Administrative Wiki

  1. Administrative Wiki Links

This can be the location for all administrative wiki links, since it's handy to have a place to note stuff.

Site administrators and probably site editors should have access to this section, but others don't need it. It's currently an in-wiki page in the administrative section...that might be annoying, if you really want it to be static you can set that up yourself however that's done.

  1. Wiki Sections on this Site

Welcome to our Wiki!

Wiki means "quick" in Hawaiian, and that's what it does for websites! Wikis are collaborative websites (or sections of websites) which can be directly edited by anyone with access to it. They're especially designed to be easy to use and quick to edit!

Here at CampHiSierra.org, we have several major sections of our wiki. This page itself isn't too interesting, but it may help you find the more interesting sections of our wiki!

Wiki Sections on this Site

Several major parts of the wiki - you probably want to go to one of these!

  • History wiki - A true highlight of this site is the History wiki, where all of us can share our stories and memories about Camp!
  • Leaders wiki - Scoutmasters and parents alike share their wisdom of how to plan for Camp and have an amazing week, all here in the Leaders wiki.
